Housing Plus Group generates more than £92 million of social impact
Housing Plus Group (HPG) generated £92.3 million of social impact during 2025/26, demonstrating the difference its work makes to customers and communities across Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Telford & Wrekin.
During 2025/26, HPG invested £145.6 million in new and existing homes, which included almost £25 million invested in home retrofit programmes and delivering 608 full retrofits, helping customers enjoy warmer, more energy-efficient homes.
Almost £43 million of the social impact that HPG generated linked to reducing social care needs and hospital attendance, demonstrating the wider value the Group’s services create beyond housing.
Another achievement during the year was HPG’s Money Advice team’s work in securing more than £10.6 million in additional benefits, income, discretionary payments and charitable support for customers, and responding to more than 4,700 referrals for support and advice.
While, social value outcomes were also achieved through a number of initiatives, including employability programmes and workshops, individual one-to-one support to customers, which successfully supported them into work, training and volunteering.
During the year, HPG also welcomed 150 work experience placements across the organisation, together with 17 longer term industry placements and six supported internships.
HPG also supported a range of community initiatives through 840 hours of volunteering through assisting with litter picks, school events, digital inclusion workshops, and supporting with communal garden and outdoor improvements locally.
The Group’s social impact outcomes were outlined in the organisation’s annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report.
Wayne Gethings, Chief Executive of Housing Plus Group, said: “This is our first ESG report as the new Housing Plus Group, and I’m delighted with what we’ve achieved.
“As a leading provider of housing, care and support services in the region, we have a strong sense of social purpose, improving lives and strengthening communities is at the heart of what we do – and this report highlights all of that crucial work.
