Housing Plus Group launches new community days to bring services closer to customers

Housing Plus Group colleagues joined residents and community partners in Featherstone for the first of a series of community days designed to bring housing services closer to customers and improve neighbourhoods.

The event, centred around Old Hall Court and surrounding streets, brought together colleagues from our housing and estate management teams alongside local partners including Councillor John Brindle and local neighbourhood PCSO Teresa Nicholls.

Co-ordinated by Housing Officer, Michael Fletcher, the community day provided an opportunity for residents to speak directly with Housing Plus Group colleagues, raise concerns, ask questions and discuss local priorities.

The event reflects a new way of working for Housing Plus Group, bringing together colleagues from different teams and partner organisations to provide a more visible presence within neighbourhoods and resolve issues more quickly.

Michael Fletcher, Housing Officer at Housing Plus Group, said:

"Our aim is to be visible within our communities and make it easier for customers to speak directly to us about the things that matter to them. By bringing together housing, estate management and community partners, we're able to have conversations, identify issues and work together on solutions.

This was the first of many community days, and we're looking forward to spending more time in our neighbourhoods, strengthening relationships with customers and helping create places people are proud to call home."

During the day, several customer concerns were identified and progressed, including repair requests, estate issues and wider neighbourhood matters.

The community day also provided an opportunity to recognise positive resident feedback. Another local resident, who had previously raised concerns regarding anti-social behaviour and rubbish within the area, contacted the team afterwards to thank colleagues for their work and continued support.

Paula Steen, Head of Housing for the South Staffordshire area added:

"We want customers to see us, know us and feel confident approaching us. Spending time within our neighbourhoods helps us understand what matters most to residents and gives us the opportunity to take action where it's needed."

“It’s great to see how much we managed to do in a short space of time, and hearing how it’s positively impacted the local residents. The next community clean-up event will be in a different area where we’ve seen similar issues raised, and we’re all looking forward to it”.

Housing Plus Group aims to build on the success of the day with further community events planned across its neighbourhoods in Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire and Staffordshire.
