Life-Saving Bleed Kit Installed at Maywood in Wombourne
Residents and the wider community in Wombourne now have access to potentially life-saving equipment following the installation of a new emergency bleed control kit at Maywood, a ShireLiving independent living scheme operated by Housing Plus Group.
The kit, which has been donated by Councillor Martin Perry, forms part of a wider initiative to improve access to critical bleed control equipment across the community. Importantly, it is available for anyone to use and will be registered on national databases, making it easy for members of the public and emergency services to locate in an emergency.
Designed to provide immediate assistance in the event of a catastrophic bleed, the kit can help preserve life in the crucial moments before emergency services arrive. It contains specialist items such as trauma dressings, tourniquets and protective equipment, enabling bystanders to respond quickly and effectively in a range of serious situations.
Scheme Manager Steph Warmer welcomed the addition and the reassurance it brings to both residents and the wider community.
She said:
“Having this kit on site gives both residents and the wider community added reassurance that help is close at hand in an emergency. While we hope it is never needed, it’s incredibly important to know that we have the right equipment available to help save a life if the situation arises.”
Councillor Martin Perry visited Maywood to present the kit in person and meet with Steph, highlighting the importance of making life-saving equipment accessible in community locations.
